Leaker Jon Prosser claims that Apple will hold the September event on Friday, 14th of the month to unveil the next-generation iPhone 13 series along with AirPods 3, Apple Watch Series 7, M1X MacBook Pro models, iPad mini, and more. Unlike last year, the 2021 iPhone launch event will follow the usual September.
Earlier, Taiwanese publisher DigiTimes reported that Apple could hold series of events in September to launch different events, instead of holding multiple events stretched over three months. It also claimed that the 9th-generation iPad is expected to launch this year.
iPhone 13 will be available for Pre-Order on September 17
In 2020, iPhone 12 series was launched with a month’s delay in October due to supply chain and production disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the pandemic is not over and the tech world is facing a major chip crisis, Apple is reported to go ahead with the pre-COVID-19 launch schedule.
Based on the information provided from his sources and iPhone 13 Pre-Order date on Chinese social media network Weibo, Prosser’s FrontPage Tech website has given the following announcement, pre-order, and launch dates:
- September 7: Invites to press, developers, and anyone who is interested
- September 14: Apple’s “biggest event” of 2021 to unveil the new iPhone series
- September 17: All four models of the new iPhone 13 will be available for Pre-Order online
- September 24: Official launch of the complete smartphone series
An alleged packing sticker reconfirmed that ‘iPhone 13’ indeed will be the name of the upcoming iPhone series. As per industry reports, the expected features include a smaller notch, LTPO OLED display for always-on functionality, larger batteries, an improved camera system, and more.
A recent report by Nikkie Asia stated that Apple’s silicon supplier TSMC has increased the production cost of advanced and mature chipsets for clients including Apple. Therefore, it is expected that iPhone 13 series will come with a higher price tag than the iPhone 12 series.
