Coinciding with the launch of the Mac Studio and Studio Display, Apple is now selling a 1.8-meter Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable for $129 that ships in two to three weeks. A 3-meter option of the Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable is “coming soon.”
Thunderbolt cables allow users to connect to external monitors, USB devices, cameras, and more with a single cable. Thunderbolt 4 technology in particular uses the power of a CPU to significantly enhance data and video performance.
Apple’s 1.8-meter Thunderbolt 4 Pro will cost you $129
Apple’s latest 27-inch monitor, the Studio Display, comes with a one-meter Thunderbolt cable in the box but if that does not fit your needs, you can shell out $129 for a 1.8-meter Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable. The tech giant’s new Mac Studio also includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports on its back to connect to displays and other devices. Note, the Mac Studio does not ship with a Thunderbolt cable in the box.
Apple says the pro-branded cable supports Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, and USB 4 data transfer up to 40Gb/s, USB 3.1 Gen 2 data transfer up to 10Gb/s, DisplayPort video output (HBR3), and charging up to 100W for a connected MacBook Pro or MacBook Air.
The cable comes in a black braided design that coils without the mess of tangling. It can be connected to a Mac with Thunderbolt 3 or 4 (USB-C) ports to Thunderbolt (USB-C) and USB displays and devices such as Studio Display, Pro Display XDR, docks, and hard drives.
In addition to the 1.8-meter options, the Cupertino tech giant will soon launch a 3-meter Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable option soon, priced at $159 for users who may be seeking a 10 feet long cable for their Mac setup.
In addition to the new cable, Apple also released new Magic accessories with silver and black colorways available for the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad.
