The new 2021 MacBook Pro is a reimagined machine with several new features and capabilities. One of those is a new charging system with MagSafe charging support. Here are the price details of the new accessories.
Price and compatibility of the new MacBook Pro charging accessories
The 2021 MacBook Pro models will ship with a charging cable and power adaptor, unlike the iPhone 13 or 12 models which only come with the charging cable. The box includes:
- 67W USB-C Power Adapter (M1 Pro with 8-core CPU) or 96W USB-C Power Adapter (M1 Pro with 10-core CPU or M1 Max)
- USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable (2 m)
If purchased separately, the new USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable retails for $49. In addition, the company has also introduced a new and more powerful 140W adaptor for $99, its most expensive power adaptor to date.
The 140W USB-C Power Adapter offers fast, efficient charging at home, in the office, or on the go. It’s compatible with numerous USB-C charging cables. Apple recommends pairing this power adapter with your 16-inch MacBook Pro (2021) using a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable to take advantage of fast charging, so you can go from 0 to 50 percent charge in around 30 minutes.
The new 140W power adaptor will compatible with the following MacBook models:
- MacBook Air (M1, 2020), (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) and (Retina, 13-inch, 2018 – 2019)
- MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021), (14-inch, 2021), (13-inch, M1, 2020), (13-inch, 2020), (13-inch, 2016 – 2019), (16-inch, 2019), (15-inch, 2016 – 2019)
