Apple is expected to launch next-generation MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips later this year. 9to5Mac reports that the upcoming Pro notebooks will feature “very high-bandwidth, high-speed RAM”.
The same member of MacRumors Forums who accurately leaked details of the 27-inch Studio Display and Mac Studio which launched in March this year, now claims that the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be equipped with high bandwidth RAM to offer a high-speed transfer of a lot more data at a time.
Upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro might feature Samsung’s latest RAM
The publisher speculates that the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips could feature Samsung’s latest RAM that delivers more bandwidth.
Samsung’s latest LPDDR5X RAM for up to 33% increased memory bandwidth with up to 20% less power consumption. This would result in up to 300 GB/s memory bandwidth for the M2 Pro and up to 600 GB/s for the M2 Max.
The 2021 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro feature Samsung’s LPDDR5 RAM which provides up to 200 GB/s of memory bandwidth with M1 Pro and up to 400 GB/s of memory bandwidth with M1 Max chip.
Sources claim that the new 2022 MacBook Pro will have the same flat edge-to-edge design, a notch in the display, and more ports like the current models. They might be available in the new blackish-blue “Midnight” color option like the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air.

Besides the advanced M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, no other major changes are expected in the new high-end MacBook Pro lineup and because of that, Mark Gurman said that Apple will unveil the new machines via press release in November.
