Apple is expected to launch new Mac models in March this year, and ahead of the event, the tech giant has filed three new unreleased Mac models in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database.
Rumor mills claim that the Cupertino tech giant is planning to host its first virtual launch event of 2022 on or near March 8 to unveil next-generation iPhone SE (3rd generation), iPad Air (5th generation), along with new Mac models powered by advanced M2 Apple Silicon.
Apple filed a “portable computer” at the EEC, along with two other Mac models
As per the filing spotted by Consomac, three unreleased Mac with serial numbers A2615, A2686, and A2681 are registered at the EEC and only A2681 is described as a “portable computer”; the registrations of the other two models does not provide any additional information.
A new filing registered today tells us of the upcoming launch of three new Macs numbered A2615, A2686 and A2681. The Mac numbered A2681 is a portable computer; this clarification is not provided for the A2615 and A2686 models which should therefore be desktop computers.
Apple is expected to launch a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip, MacBook Air with M2 chip, Mac mini with M2 chip, and 27-inch iMac with M1 Max Duo chip. It is likely that one of the two laptops models, entry-level MacBook Pro or MacBook Air will launch at the March event, along with the next-generation Mac mini and larger 27-inch iMac Pro.
Reportedly, the upcoming MacBook Pro will be powered by upgraded M2 Apple Silicon and will not be equipped with a mini-LED or ProMotion display. More interestingly, Appel will finally replace the Touch Bar with physical function keys.
The alleged M2 MacBook Air will have the same fanless design, and will feature a mini-LED display, 1080p webcam, white bezels, keyboard, full-sized function keys, support MagSafe charging, will be available in new color options like 2020 iMac and more interestingly will have a notch like the 2021 MacBook Pro models. However, it will not support a 120Hz ProMotion display, Face ID authentication, SD card, and HDMI port like the 2021 MacBook Pro models.
