AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi might launch on May 18, as per rumor

As per a new sketchy rumor, AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi might be launching on Tuesday, May 18. The rumor comes from YouTube Luke Miani and AppleTrack, who claim to also have confirmed that AirPods 3 will be launching in the coming weeks.

Apple Music HiFi and AirPods 3 launch imminent but exact date doubtful

YouTuber Luke Miani is not popularly known for accurately reporting on any rumors. AppleTrack, a website that tracks the accuracy of various Apple leakers, has corroborated this by saying that they have privately confirmed from sources that AirPods 3 will be launching in the coming weeks.

Miani, who we reached out to, said that new AirPods could be announced on May 18 via a press release that could also include a ‘Apple Music HiFi’ debut. AppleTrack has heard privately that Apple is planning to release new AirPods in the coming weeks.

‘Coming weeks’ timeline was reported a few weeks before as well with regards to the launch of Apple Music HiFi by Hits Daily Double, so this is not the first time that we have heard this. However, the timeframe is vague enough and could mean anything.

If we have to put on our thinking hats, iOS 14.6, currently in beta, will launch with Apple Music HiFi support. This will also be the same time when AirPods 3 could launch. Since the software update is expected to launch within a few weeks too, we would not be surprised if all these releases might happen in May. If not now, the next possible launch date would be WWDC, which seems out of the question considering that Apple will have other things to announce and would not want to focus on any hardware launch, specially AirPods.

L0vetodream, a leaker with a great track record who claims to have retired but has not stopped commenting on rumors, has tweeted the following earlier, which may make people doubt the May 18 launch date even further.

Make of that what you will.

Update: Jon Prosser has also shared his take on this rumor with a gif that simply points to the launch date being incorrect.
