Apple has finally unveiled the long-rumored second-generation AirPods Pro touting them as, “the most advanced AirPods ever.” Powered by the new H2 chip, the AirPods Pro 2 offer next-level audio performance including improved Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and Personalized Spatial Audio. The new earbuds also come in a redesigned charging case.
Apple debuts new and improved AirPods Pro!

With up to double the noise-cancelling power of their predecessor, the world’s bestselling wireless headphones just got even better.”
Design and Touch Control
The next-generation AirPods Pro sport the same design as the original AirPods Pro. The stem of the AirPods Pro now offers Touch control. With a light swipe up or down on the stem, users can quickly adjust the volume and control media playback. The earbuds also include an improved skin-detect sensor which accurately turns playback on or off.
Improvements to Sound
Powered by the new H2 chip, the new AirPods Pro offer an incredible leap in sound quality with a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier. There are also improvements for Transparency Mode through the on-device processing enabled by the H2 chip. The mode now reduces environmental noises like passing vehicle sirens, construction tools, or loudspeakers.
The new AirPods Pro also offer Personalized Spatial Audio which is based on the size and shape of a user’s head and ears, helping to deliver a personalized listening experience. Noise cancellation is also touted to be 2x better than the first generation.
Redesigned Charging Case and XS Silicone Ear Tips
Apple has redesigned the case of the AirPods Pro with the debut of the second generation. The new case is sweat and water-resistant. It also includes a lanyard loop so users do not have to purchase an extra case if they want to attach the case to something.
In addition to this, the charging case now has a built-in speaker so you never lose your AirPods Pro. Adding on to this, the new earbuds also offer Precision Finding, which is compatible with any iPhone that has a U1 chip. This functionality will give you the exact location of your earbuds and it will also guide you to them.
Battery and Connectivity
As for the battery life, Apple says the new AirPods Pro offer 1.5 hours of additional listening time compared to the first generation, for a total of up to six hours with Active Noise Cancellation. Using the case for four additional charges, users can enjoy up to 30 hours of total listening time with Active Noise Cancellation, six hours more than their predecessors.
As for connectivity, users will be able to change the new AirPods Pro with an Apple Watch charger in addition to a MagSafe charger, Qi-certified charging mat, or the Lightning cable.
Price and Availability
The second-generation AirPods Pro will be available to order starting Friday, September 9 on apple.com as well as the Apple Store app. They will retail for the same price as their predecessors, $249. In-store availability with start on Friday, September 23.
