A new rumor has arisen because of some images that were shared on Twitter which allegedly show new hardware for the next-gen AirPods Pro. The speculation about two sizes for AirPods Pro 2 comes from Mr. White.
A Twitter user called Mr. White, who has a decent history with leaks, has shared new images for the AirPods Pro 2. The images represent different sized SoC housing for the H1 processor which could mean different sized earbuds in the future model. Mr. White calls them W2 processors, mistakenly.
AirPods Pro 2 might arrive in two different sizes, according to a leaker
In the tweet below, the hardware on the right side appears to be current AirPods Pro hardware, while the hardware on the left is designed for the next-gen AirPods Pro hardware. The cables are in two different sizes, which Mr. White suggests is an indication that the AirPods Pro 2 could possibly come in two sizes.

The different colors do not hold any value. The leaker says in a later tweet that ‘AirPods not suitable for black’ meaning that there could be another reason for different colors rather than color-coordinated hardware.
Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 are expected to release in early 2021 along with AirPods 3. To eliminate the stem entirely, it is expected that the SoC package will be more complex in order to accommodate more tech in a smaller device.
If Apple moves to make a stemless design for AirPods Pro 2, it would require them to manufacture different sized earpieces in order to get the best fit for a user. This could explain why there would be different sized SoC housings.
Mr. White has a history of sharing Apple’s part assemblies on Twitter – straight from the assembly line. The account has proved to be accurate enough for what has been released, excluding some notable misses.
In the past, Mr. White has shared details about the Cupertino tech giant’s plans before for was not always correct. He once said that Apple is working on a black Apple Pencil, that has yet to appear. He also shared that a 20W charger might come alongside the new iPhone 12. And earlier this year, Mr. White shared images for a braided cable said to be used in the iPhone 12 line-up.
There is no exact word on when exactly a refreshed version of the next-gen AirPods Pro will come out, but the updated earbuds are expected to arrive in the first half of 2021.
