Deadline reports the Oscar and Emmy awards winner, Allison Janney will star in Apple TV+ new comedy series “Mrs. American Pie” along with Kristen Wiig and Laura Dern, who are both reportedly eyeing the key role.
Based on a novel by Juliet McDaniel by the same name, the upcoming series is created by Abe Sylvia, who is also the showrunner, and directed by Tate Taylor. “Mrs. American Pie” is developed by Dern, produced by Jayme Lemons through the Jaywalker Pictures banner, and executive produced by Sylvia, and Taylor.

The new series is based on the life and challenges of ambitious Maxine Simmons (played by Wiig) who wants to secure a seat at the table of Palm Beach’s high society. According to the report, Janney will play the role of Evelyn, a Palm Beach resident and member of the high society.
A story about gorgeously impossible people, “Mrs. American Pie” follows Maxine Simmons’ (played by Wiig) attempt to secure her seat at America’s most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, “Mrs. American Pie” asks the same questions that still baffle us today: “Who gets a seat at the table?” “How do you get a seat at the table?” “What will you sacrifice to get there?” Set during the powderkeg era of the early 1970s, “Mrs. American Pie” is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance at superficial greatness.
Apple TV+ is currently running the award-winning comedy series “Ted Lasso”, “Acapulco”, “The After Party”, and others and is set to premiere a new “Loot” show in June. The streamer has ordered new comedy shows like “Sunny” starring Rashida Jones, “Bad Sisters” from Sharon Horgan, and an untitled comedy-adventure series starring Noel Fielding.
