Leaker with a decent track record, Jon Prosser claims that Apple might be announcing 2023’s new products on January 17. Prosser’s tech website @frontpagetech posted on Twitter that new devices would be announced via press releases on Apple newsroom.
The Cupertino tech giant is expected to launch the new iPad Pro, MacBook Pro (14-inch and 16-inch), Mac mini, and iMac models powered by M2 series chips this year. It is also specualted that the company will introduce its first-generation mixed reality headset with combined augmented reality and virtual reality tech in H1 of 2023.
In late 2022, rumor mills reported that Apple would not hold separate events for Macs and other products and they would be announced via press releases. But the company would only host an event for its mixed reality headset in spring or at WWDC 2023.
Apple might unveil new Macs and iPad Pros with next-generation M2 chips very soon
Previously, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg said that the only significant upgrade in new Mac and iPad Pro models would be the advanced M2 series processor. Therefore, the tech company will announce them via press release due to a lack of hardware changes. However, he got the time of the announcements wrong.
He predicted that the company would announce the following products through the Apple newsroom:
- M2 Pro and M2 Max 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros
- M2 and M2 Pro Mac minis
- M2 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros
Prosser’s claim corroborates Gurman’s report on new product announcements via press release.
