A new ‘Apple Bağdat Caddesi’ store will open in the heart of Istanbul on October 22, 2021. The new store is the company’s third retail outlet in Turkey which is constructed with Apple’s signature glass, wood, and “locally sourced Aksaray Yaylak granite and Turkish travertine” materials. Apple Bağdat Caddesi will host a special Today Apple program and an exclusive AR exhibition.

Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail + People said,

“With the opening of Apple Bağdat Caddesi, we’re thrilled to build upon the deep and long-standing relationships we have with our customers in Turkey. We can’t wait to welcome the local community to our newest store in Istanbul and bring them the best of Apple.”

Istanbul to cut the red ribbon of its new Apple Bağdat Caddesi store with a floating carbon-fiber roof, soon

Housed under a floating carbon-fiber roof, the new retail location creates an urban oasis for residents of Istanbul in the heart of the city with large glass panels and a large, tree-filled garden. In addition, the company will host two special events to celebrate the occasion: Today at Apple Program and AR exhibition.

Perspektif Istanbul, a six-week Today at Apple program will debut on October 22, that will be hosted by 20 local artists to pay homage to the city and its creatives. The series will combine creativity, culture, and technology in an experience and discuss topics close to the local community.

Furthermore, the participants will be able to join in-person or online sessions to learn traditional miniature drawing with “illustrator Murat Palta, photographing the unseen with Magnum Photos photographer Sabiha Çimen, or creating a moving portrait with visual artist Sinan Tuncay.”

An exclusive augmented reality (AR) exhibition will be hosted at the new store. The work of creative technologists Tin Nguyen and Ed Cutting, and Turkish sound artist Oğuz Öner will be virtually displayed.

The experience transforms the store with an immersive digital installation and includes many other artists participating in Perspektif Istanbul. Using the latest iPad Pro and iPhone 13 Pro with LiDAR, visitors will be able to see ceramic vessels inspired by Ebru — the traditional art of paper marbling — in AR on their screens, and hear unique spatial sound elements.
