As 2023 draws to a close, Apple is inviting users to revisit their reading habits with personalized “Year in Review” features for Apple Books. This feature offers insights into individual reading habits as well as curated lists of the top books that captured the attention of readers this year.
Note that the Year in Review feature is available for free for Apple Books users in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, and Germany.
“Year in Review” for Apple Books shows your top genres, highest rated book, total time spent reading, and more
Apple Books users can now access a personalized Year in Review experience within the Read Now tab under Top Picks. This feature provides a comprehensive overview of their reading journey in 2023, including total time spent reading, longest book or audiobook consumed, most-read author and genre, and highest-rated book. Additionally, users can manually add books and audiobooks to their Year in Review, ensuring a complete reflection of their literary preferences.
Apple has also compiled a list of the top books of 2023, categorized into fiction and nonfiction genres, encompassing both books and audiobooks. These literary gems represent the works that captivated readers and listeners throughout the year.

To ensure accurate Year in Review data, marking books or audiobooks as finished is a simple process within the Apple Books app. Simply tap and hold on any book, select “Mark as Finished,” and adjust the finished date if necessary. For titles read elsewhere, users can search Apple Books for digital versions and mark them accordingly.
Apple further empowers readers to set ambitious reading goals for the upcoming year. By enabling the “Reading Goals” option in the Settings app, users can access comprehensive statistics, including average monthly reading minutes, to track their progress and transform their reading aspirations into reality.
