According to the rumor mill, a new 4.7-inch iPhone SE is set to release soon. The alleged device might have a single-lens rear camera, an LCD display, A13 chip, 3GB RAM, and Touch ID home bottom. It will be available in red, space grey and silver colors with 64, 128 and 256 GB storage options. The most attractive feature is its, presumed, $399 retail cost.
Analysts and sources claim that the expected design of the new iPhone SE will be similar to iPhone 8. It will have the processing chip, A13, that is used in iPhone 11, for faster performance. Besides the design, it is also reported that the new iPhone variant will have a single camera setup as iPhone 8, but with improvements and advanced features. To keep the price low, Apple would not include Face ID, and will continue to use Touch ID for authentication.
Rumors of expected hardware and software updates are always in circulation around this time. A Belkin screen protector on Apple Store, which is listed for iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and 7, confirmed the existence of the new smartphone. Apple has since modified the product listing to remove iPhone SE from the title
Corroborating these claims, 9to5Mac also claims that Apple is about to launch the new iPhone SE very soon. Besides the specs of the new 4.7-inch iPhone SE, its name has been the talk of the hour. After the company released iPhone X and iPhone 11, consecutively, it had skipped the name ‘iPhone 9’. So, it was expected that a new addition in SE series might be called iPhone 9.
An affordable iPhone model will be a good product for markets in developing countries where additional duties and taxes on already expensive Apple products, make them out of reach for most people. Therefore, a low-to-mid price range iPhone might sell well as a replacement for older iPhone models, which do not even receive iOS updates anymore.
