A new smartphone market survey by Counterpoint reveals that 5G enabled smartphones’ accounted for more than 50% of all smartphone sales in January, setting a new record. And the strong demand for Apple iPhone 13 paved the way to achieve that mile, accounting for more than a third of all 5G smartphone sales.

According to the report, 5G enables smartphones accounted for 51% of units sold and Apple led the market with a 37% share of China’s smartphone market.

Apple’s market-leading 37% was also boosted by its strong position in the country.
Previously, it was reported that driven by iPhone 13 success, Apple became China’s #1 smartphone brand, after six years, with the highest-ever 23% market share in Q4, 2021.
The Chinese smartphone market saw lower sales because of supply constraints impacting OEMs shipments, low demand, longer replacement cycle, and failure of OEMs to give consumers attractive products for upgrades.
In such a homogenous smartphone market, Apple delivered iPhone 13 series, an advanced 5G smartphone with a high-quality camera, at a lower price.
The newly launched iPhone SE 3 with 5G network support is likely to boost Apple’s 5G smartphone market share further.
