Apple Spring event: iPhone SE, iPad Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro

There have been various rumors as to what Apple could announce during its first event of 2022. Based on leakers and analysts with a good track record, it is all but confirmed that Apple will launch iPhone SE 3 and iPad Air.

iPhone SE 3 is expected to have the same design but with a new A15 Bionic chip and 5G networking support. If it launches at the same price point as the current iPhone SE model, it will become an even more attractive deal, however, customers would still like to see an iPhone 11-like design language to make it look modern when compared to the competition. Unfortunately, another drawback of the old design is that iPhone SE 3 will not support MagSafe.

iPad Air 5 will also get a new A15 Bionic chip and 5G networking support. Like other recent iPad models, it is also expected to gain an ultra-wide FaceTime camera which will allow it to support Center Stage. The device will continue to use an LCD display, instead of a mini-LED display that Apple is using on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and is expected to bring to the 11-inch iPad Pro this year.

Apple will also be announcing a new 13-inch MacBook Pro model with a second-generation Apple Silicon M2 chip, and no Touch Bar. It is also rumored that Apple will release a new higher-end Mac mini which will be powered by M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. It will replace the existing Intel Mac mini that Apple still sells as a high-end variant of the computer.

The M2 chip itself is expected to feature the same number of CPU cores and similar performance as M1, however, it will get performance bumps in terms of GPU performance.

Apple is also expected to announce four new spring iPhone 13 MagSafe during the event.

Stay tuned as we bring you comprehensive coverage from all the latest announcements from the event on March 8.
