Recently, Apple introduced free Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos support and Lossless Audio on Apple Music. And now, 9to5Google has spotted the new audio features along with other improvements in the latest Apple Music beta for Android brings the new enhanced listening features to non-Apple subscribers.
Spatial Audio offers an immersive listening experience by playing tracks with multidimensional sounds and clarity. High Fidelity (HiFi) Lossless audio allows users to stream music in exactly the same quality as its original version. And now the beta update of the music app on Android allows subscribers to listen to more than 75 million songs in Spatial Audio with Dobly Atmos and Lossless audio without any additional cost.
Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, Oliver Schusser said:
“Apple Music is making its biggest advancement ever in sound quality. Listening to a song in Dolby Atmos is like magic. The music comes from all around you and sounds incredible. Now we are bringing this truly innovative and immersive experience to our listeners with music from their favorite artists like J Balvin, Gustavo Dudamel, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Kacey Musgraves, The Weeknd, and so many more. Subscribers will also be able to listen to their music in the highest audio quality with Lossless Audio. Apple Music as we know it is about to change forever.”
Apple Music 3.6 beta on Android brings Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, Lossless audio, Crossfade, and more
As per 9to5Google, the full changelog of the latest Apple Music 3.6-beta on Android includes the following features and improvements:
- In this update, Apple Music adds spatial listening on compatible devices, with thousands of tracks in Dolby Atmos available at launch.
- Lossless Audio, a new way to experience un-compromised sound, with bit-for-bit accuracy.
- Automatic Crossfade, a new way to listen that blends each song into the next for a seamless experience.
- Search enhancements to library, which allow you to more easily find your favorite music with in-line search.
Having said that, it is not known for certain which Android devices will be compatible with the new audio updates. Currently, Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmo and Lossless audio are compatible with AirPods and Beats (with an H1 or W1 chip), iPhone, iPad, and Mac. As per Apple’s announcement, new Dolby Atmos songs and playlists will be added to the service constantly.
