Ahead of iPhone 13 production, Apple’s manufacturing partner, Foxconn has announced a bonus pay incentive for new recruits. South China Morning Post reports that for a third time this month, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacture has given new bonuses to workers at its Zhengzhou plant in China for mass production of the next-generation iPhone series.
Foxconn is one of Apple’s biggest iPhone manufacturers. And Unlike iPhone 12, the new smartphone models are rumored to launch in the usual September timeframe this year. It is reported that iPhone 13 will go into mass production in May/July period. Therefore, to encourage assembly workers to work at max capacity, the manufacturer is giving cash incentives.
Foxconn announces $1158 worth bonus pay, ahead of iPhone 13 production
Based on job posts by the company’s recruiter, the report claims that workers will get paid $1158 for working 90 days.
According to job posts published by the firm’s integrated Digital Product Business Group (iDPBG), the division responsible for iPhone production.
Each new recruit will receive a 7,500 yuan (US$1,158) bonus if they work for 90 days and be on duty for at least 55 days, according to the latest announcement posted by iDPBG on Thursday.
That amount is up from 6,500 yuan offered on April 26 and 6,000 yuan on April 15. It is also more than double the 3,500 yuan bonus offered at the end of March.
However, Foxconn has declined to officially comment on the matter. The production timeframe is corroborated by Tech analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo who reported that iPhone 13 production will not face any delay. He also said that the next-generation iPhone series will have four models and would have higher demand than iPhone 12 because of wide support for the 5G network. It is also reported that iPhone 13 is expected to powered by a new A15 chipset built on a 5nm process for even faster performance than the currently used A14 Bionic chip in iPhone 12, smaller batteries, and Pro models of the next-generation smartphone series will have LPTO display with 120Hz refresh rate.
