Apple plans to introduce new nutrition and payment services, along with Fitness+ improvements in 2022

Apple Services are becoming an integral part of the company which is designed to further promote its hardware to consumers, worldwide. Commenting on the new Services coming to Apple users in 2022, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg claims that the Cupertino tech giant is developing new payment and nutrition services, and expansion of Fitness+ workouts.

Currently, the Cupertino tech giant offers several services like iCloud+, App Store, TV+, Arcade, Fitness+, Music, Apple Pay, News+, Podcast, Books, and Apple Card.

All the new Apple Services are expected to launch this year

In 2022, Apple plans to launch a few new services related to health and payment. According to Gurman, there are new subscription plans coming this year.

Nutrition grocery service

To offer users comprehensive health and fitness-centered experience, the tech company might introduce an “Instacart” like service which will be integrated with nutrition data in the Health app.

Instacart is an online grocery delivery and pick-up service in the U.S and Canada. It allows customers to make orders via a personal shopper who picks, packs, and delivers the items within their designated time frame.

The alleged Nutrition service will allow users to shop for groceries suitable for their health conditions or fitness needs. However, Gurman said that it seems like a complex service to implement and it might have a “fairly low margin”.

Hardware subscription and Apple Pay payment services

Reiterating his previous predictions, in his latest Power On newsletter edition, Gurman wrote that the tech giant is developing a hardware subscription plan which will allow customers to buy the latest Apple products through a monthly installment plan and Apple Pay “Buy now, pay later” payment services.

Tap to Pay - Apple

It was also reported that the tech company is building its own payment processing service for future financial products like payment processing, credit checks, fraud analysis, risk assessment for lending, customer-service tasks like managing disputes, and others.

It is expected to reduce reliance on its current financial partners like CoreCard Corp., Green Dot Corp., and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and become a new opportunity to generate revenue. However, the alleged in-house payment processing service is years away.

Improvements to Fitness+ and Apple TV+

Furthermore, the tech company is likely to upgrade the Fitness+ program with new workout types in iOS 16 and introduce substantial improvements to Apple TV+. He did not mention what improvement should be expected.
