The new iPhone 13 series is finally out with four models powered by the A15 Bionic chip for improved performance, connectivity, and more. For the first time, the iPhone 13 Pro models offer a new ProRes workflow to capture, edit and share videos in Dolby Vision on a single device.
Announced at the ‘California Streaming’ event, iPhone 13 Pro models are packed with new features like A 15 chip,all-new Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, pro camera system with new Ultra Wide, Wide, and Telephoto cameras, new computational photography features like Photographic Styles personalize and much more.
iPhone 13 Pro’s new ProRes is a massive leap in smartphone videos
The ProRes video recording format is available in high-end cameras and used by professionals for filing, editing, and color grading. And with the power of A15 Bionic and advanced machine learning algorithms, Apple has brought high-quality video recording to smartphones making the new Pro models the only smartphone to offer the advanced feature.
iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max also introduce ProRes, an advanced video codec used widely as the final delivery format for commercials, feature films, and broadcasts, to offer higher color fidelity and less compression. This powerful new pro workflow is enabled by the new camera hardware, advanced video encoders and decoders in A15 Bionic, and flash storage pipeline. iPhone is the only smartphone in the world to provide an end-to-end workflow — capture, edit, and share in Dolby Vision or ProRes.
Two-time Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow says that with the new ProRes, iPhone 13 Pro models deliver an integrated videography process that does not require any ancillary piece of equipment. And Oscar-nominated cinematographer Greig Fraser says that there is no limit to what the iPhone camera features can do and they brought the Pro models close to professional film cameras. All of this is achieved by the power of the new A15 Bionic chip which features 2 new high-performance cores, 4 new high-efficiency cores, a faster Neural Engine, a new display engine, video encoders, and decoders, and more. The new iPhone 13 series will be available for pre-order on September 17 from apple.com.
