Just after two weeks of the last beta, Apple has just released iOS 5 beta 5 which is now available for download through an Apple developer’s portal. Like the previous iOS 5 beta, you can grab this one via an OTA update if you don’t have your iOS 5 beta 4 jailbroken. To do that, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Otherwise, you’ll need to download the full .IPSW file after logging in to you developer account.
iOS 5 contains new features such as a notification center, improved browser performance, new developer APIs and much more. It’s gearing up to be a major release and we’re excited to see progress towards the final release. We expect the new iPhone to be available with iOS 5 as default OS.
iOS 5 beta 5 has the build number 9A5288d and is available for the following devices:
- iPhone 4 (GSM & CDMA)
- iPhone 3GS
- iPod touch 3G / 4G
- iPad
- iPad 2
You can read the complete change log via BGR here.
NOTE: This is a developer’s only “beta” release. So if you’re not a developer, please wait until the official iOS 5 release this fall.
