Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Apple retail stores might launch a new home-delivery service as early as August 2023.
Currently, home delivery service is only available on Apple’s online store. And employees at the company’s retail stores either recommend or help the visiting consumers to purchase new devices online if they wish to get purchases delivered at home instead of carrying them.
Apple to introduce a new EasyPay Online Ordering program at retail stores for home deliveries
The tech giant is going to introduce a new EasyPay Online Ordering program at retail stores. Integrated into the company’s retail EasyPay terminals, employees will be able to suggest the new home delivery option to customers at checkout starting next month.
According to the report in Gurman’s latest newsletter, Apple’s decision to incorporate a home delivery option at retail stores is part of its long-term strategy to reduce backroom space to keep stock and more importantly, offer convenience to the consumers.
In the future, customers would not have to carry their new devices around with them when shopping at the mall or worry about taking larger and heavier devices like iMac or Studio Display home.
The tech journalist also suggests that the move could be related to the launch of Vision Pro in early 2024. He speculates that it might not be possible for retail stores to have all of the headset’s accessories and paraphernalia like head straps, battery packs, light seal, and others, therefore, the company is introducing the new delivery option to sell devices even when they do not have all the parts in the store and have the complete product delivered at home.
Recently, Apple has also introduced a new 2-hour express delivery service on Apple’s online store for an additional cost of $9 or its equivalent.
It appears the tech giant is focusing on new delivery options to get new products send to customers quickly and conveniently.
