Apple’s new “Self Service Repair” program is finally available in the United States which provides repair manuals and genuine Apple parts and tools to consumers who wish to repair their iPhones 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE (3rd generation) models via Apple Self Service Repair Store.
Amidst increasing pressure from the Right To Repair movement and advocates, Apple announced the ‘Self Service Repair’ in November 2021. Initially, the company included iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models under the DYI repair programs but now, the iPhone SE 2022 is also included in the program.
Apple Self Service Repair Store offers repair manual and genuine parts to repair display, battery, and camera of compatible models
Under the new repair program, users can order the required paraphernalia to repair the display, battery, and camera of the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE 2022 models.
Customers will first have to review the repair manual and order the required parts and tools from the Apple Self Service Repair Store. The company will also offer tool rental kits for $49 for customers who need tools for a single repair.
The new Apple Self Service Repair Store has more than 200 individual high-quality parts and tools to enable customers to make DYI repairs.
“Every genuine Apple part is designed and engineered for each product, and goes through extensive testing to ensure the highest quality, safety, and reliability. The parts are the same ones — at the same price — as those available to Apple’s network of authorized repair providers. For certain repairs, customers will receive a credit when returning a replaced part for recycling.”
Apple has also announced that the new repair program will be expanded to more regions, starting with Europe, and will include DYI repairs for Apple Silicon Mac models later this year.
In addition to the new Apple Self Service Repair program, the company’s service locations will continue to provide repairs by trained and authorized technicians and run the Independent Repair Providers program.
