Apple starts selling PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller after adding support in iOS 14.5

Apple recently released iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 after weeks of beta testing. Alongside features like unlocking a Face ID-equipped iPhone using an Apple Watch, more diverse voice options for Siri, 217 new emojis, the update also features App Tracking Transparency and support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X controllers.

Following the iOS 14.5 update, the Cupertino tech giant has started selling the PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller in its online store. The latest versions of Apple’s operating systems seek to enhance a user’s gaming experience by allowing them to pair a PS5 DualSense Controller to an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV via Bluetooth to play compatible games.

The tech giant introduced expanded game controller support to its many platforms with the release of macOS 11.3, tvOS 14.5, and iOS 14.5, allowing compatibility with both Xbox Series X controller and Sony’s PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. The DualSense controller can also be used to play games streamed directly from PS5 and PS4 via PS Remote Play. This feature requires a  PlayStation Network account and the standalone app.

According to the tech giant, users can use the Wireless DualSense controller on the go for portable gaming. Charging the controller requires a USB Battery Charging 1.2-compatible wall charger or standard USB 2.0 or 3.0 compatible port found on a PS5 console, Mac, or PC.

Recently, Sony announced new models for the PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller in red and black, however, Apple is only selling the original white version. The PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller is available for $69.95, with in-store pickup currently unavailable.
