To enhance users’ gaming experience on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac, Apple now officially supports select gaming controllers by 8BitDo.
8BitDo is a video game hardware manufacturer that focuses on retro-themed game controllers, adapters, and accessories. It offers a variety of wired and Bluetooth gaming controllers.
8BitDo gaming controllers are compatible with devices on iOS 16.3, macOS 13.2, and tvOS 16.3
As per 8BitDo’s announcement on Twitter, Apple officially supports 8BitDo SN30 Pro, SN30 Pro for Android, SN30 Pro+, Pro 2, Ultimate 2.4G, and Lite SE on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV now.
However, the devices must be running iOS 16.3 or later, iPadOS 16.3 or later, macOS 13.2 or later, and tvOS 16.3 or later to use 8BitDo gaming controllers to play Apple Arcade and other titles.
Third-party Nintendo Online, Backbone One – PlayStation Edition, Xbox Series X controllers, and Razer Kishi V2 are also compatible with Apple devices. The tech giant also retails third-party gaming controllers compatible with its online store:
