In an open letter to Italian developers published in the first issue of Login magazine, Apple CEO Tim Cook encourages them to utilize their creativity, passion, and tools to make innovative products that preserve users’ privacy, reduce the impact of climate change, and most importantly, centered around the well being on consumers.

Quoting a few turning points for the human society like the fall of the Berlin Wall and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tim Cook emphasized the profound influence of technology in today’s world and the responsibility to use it productively because “it is important to remember that technology is not inherently good or bad. Its impact will depend on the values and intentions we place at the heart of our innovations.”
He reiterated the company’s vision to offer innovative products that improve lives and its commitment to being part of the solution to climate change “because we know that people can only benefit from the technology we create in an environment where humanity can thrive.”
Moving on, Tim Cook directed the reader’s attention to Apple’s world-changing technologies like Apple Watch detection of undiagnosed atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), accessibility features across Apple devices, ATT privacy feature on iOS, and others.
He ends the letter by motivating Italian developers to use their skills to create technology that is used for the betterment of humanity.
We believe everyone has the potential to innovate when they have access to the right tools, especially in a vibrant place like Italy, full of passion and creativity . And we want to help more and more people realize that potential. For this we have collaborated with the University of Naples Federico II and created the Apple Developer Academy, which provides aspiring developers and entrepreneurs with the coding skills necessary to shape their ideas.
As we move forward together, faced with so many challenges, it will be more important than ever to put humanity at the heart of the technology we create. If we do, the opportunities to inspire progress and improve people’s lives will be immense. At Apple, we will continue to be guided by our values as we use technology to change the world for the better. I hope that innovators from all over Italy will want to join us in this challenge.
