Unlike its competitors, Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPad before launching a foldable iPhone. Now, tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the tech giant would introduce its foldable iPad in 2024 along with a new iPad mini model.
Although most sources quoted 2024 as the launch year of the new model, Kuo said that Apple would debut its foldable iPad in 2025. He also added that the new model would be more expensive than the iPad mini, therefore, the mini model would not be replaced with the new foldable model.
Next generation iPad mini to release in 2024, along with the foldable iPad
In his latest Twitter thread, Kuo revised his previous assessment and said that the 2024 foldable iPad will feature a kickstand which will be supplied by Anjie Technology.
I’m positive about the foldable iPad in 2024 and expect this new model will boost shipments and improve the product mix.
My latest survey indicates that the foldable iPad will feature a carbon fiber kickstand. Carbon fiber material will make the kickstand lighter and more durable.
Anjie Technology, as a polishing and bonding supplier of the carbon fiber kickstand for the foldable iPad, is expected to continue benefiting from the growing trend of foldable devices equipped with kickstands in the future.
He also predicted that as Apple might not release a new iPad model this year and the upgraded iPad mini is also expected to release in 2024, iPad shipments for 2023 could face a decline.
There may be no new iPad releases in the next 9-12 months as the iPad mini refresh is more likely to begin mass production in 1Q24.
Thus, I’m taking a cautious approach to iPad shipments for 2023, predicting a YoY decline of 10-15%.

Standalone smart home devices designed as wall-mounted appliances have become increasingly popular like Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub displays. Although Apple’s iPad offers smart home features, it is not commonly used as a standalone smart display.
