Apple TV+ to premiere Jennifer Lawrence’s new movie “Causeway” [U: streaming now]

Apple TV+ has landed a new movie “Causeway” that stars Jennifer Lawrence who also serves as its producer. Brian Tyree Henry co-stars with Lawrence.

The announcement adds another original project with an A-list Hollywood star; the video streamer recently debuted “Cha Cha Real Smooth” starring Dakota Johnson, and offers movies like “Grey Hound” and “Finch” starring Tom Hanks, “Palmer” starring Justin Timberlake, “Cherry” starring Tom Holland and others.

New “Causeway” will premiere on Apple TV+ and in theaters later this year

Later this year, “Causeway” will premiere in theaters and on Apple TV+ to showcase the life and struggles of a soldier from New Orleans who is learning to resocialize in society after returning home.

Hailed from A24,  the new movie is produced by Lawrence, along with Justine Ciarrocchi for Excellent Cadaver, IAC Films, and IPR.VC. It is written by Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel, and Elizabeth Sanders and directed by Lila Neugebauer, who also serves as its executive producer.

“Causeway” will be Jennifer Lawrence’s third project with Apple TV+. Reportedly, she will star in Elizabeth Holmes’ biopic titled “Bad Blood” and Sue Mengers’ biopic.

Apple TV+ is gradually growing its market share and expanding its catalog. JustWatch survey revealed that Apple TV+ has gained a 6% market share in the United States in Q2, 2022, up from 3% in Q4, 2020.

In spite of a limited library, a report by Self Financial revealed that Apple TV+’s content was the highest rated in 2022, for the second year in a row. The video streamer’s movie “CODA” won an Oscar for Best Picture, creating history and for the 2022 Emmy Awards, the video streamer has bagged 52 nominations.
