At the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Apple TV+ original movie and comedy series “CODA” and “Ted Lasso” received Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
In 2021, the series director and main lead, Jason Sudeikis won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and he has won another SAG award a second time, in two years. Since its launch in 2020, Apple TV+ hit “Ted Lasso” has earned several awards like Emmy, Golden Globe, Writers Guild of America, and others. And now CODA has become another one of Apple TV+ award-winning titles; it has also received six Oscar and BAFTA nominations.

In the Motion Picture category “CODA” and in Television Programs category “Ted Lasso” bagged four SAG Awards, collectively.
- CODA – won SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
- CODA – star Troy Kotsur won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role and become the first Deaf actor to win an award for remarkable performance.
- Ted Lasso – won SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series
- Ted Lasso – star Jason Sudeikis won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series
Including today’s recognitions, Apple’s series and films have earned 207 wins and 950 nominations since the debut of Apple TV+ just over two years ago. Apple Original films and series have recently received recognition from the Academy Awards, SAG Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Critics Choice Documentary Awards, NAACP Image Awards, as well as past Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards, plus more.
Apple Studios acquired rights to “CODA” for a record $25 million at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie tells a unique story of a deaf family with only a 17-year-old Ruby (Emilia Jones) as its sole hearing member and Ruby’s journey as she tries to balance her social, ambitions, and family life.
17-year-old Ruby (Emilia Jones) is the sole hearing member of a deaf family – a CODA, child of deaf adults. Her life revolves around acting as interpreter for her parents (Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur) and working on the family’s struggling fishing boat every day before school with her father and older brother (Daniel Durant).
But when Ruby joins her high school’s choir club, she discovers a gift for singing and soon finds herself drawn to her duet partner Miles (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo). Encouraged by her enthusiastic, tough-love choirmaster (Eugenio Derbez) to apply to a prestigious music school, Ruby finds herself torn between the obligations she feels to her family and the pursuit of her own dreams.
Ted Lasso is a popular comedy series on the life of an American soccer coach in England who spreads his admired and loved for his positivity, optimism, and promotion of teamwork. Both titles are available on Apple TV+ for $4.99 per month.
