For the first time, Apple TV+ movies have earned BAFTA nominations. The video streaming movies ‘Greyhound’ and ‘Wolfwalkers’ have picked up three nominations; Wolfwalkers in the animated film category and Greyhound for special visual effects and sound.
In its short stint, after launch in late 2019, Apple TV+ original content has earned several awards, nominations, and accolades. Recently, the lead of comedy series, ‘Ted Lasso’, Jason Sudeikis won a Gloden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a television series – musical or comedy. The title also won three Critics Choice Awards for Best Comedy category, Best Actor in a Comedy Series, and Best supporting actress in a comedy series.
Apple TV+ original movies ‘Greyhound’ and Wolfwalkers’ are nominated in three BAFTA Awards categories
Starring Tom Hanks, the World War II drama “Greyhound” based on the book ‘The Good Shephard’ by Playtone, Hanks’ production company. The movie became one of the first titles to receive prominence on Apple TV+.
In a thrilling story inspired by actual events from the Battle of the Atlantic, Tom Hanks stars as a first-time captain who leads a convoy of allied ships carrying thousands of soldiers across the treacherous waters of the “Black Pit” to the front lines of WW2. With no air cover protection for 5 days, the captain and his convoy must battle the surrounding enemy Nazi U-boats in order to give the allies a chance to win the war. The movie tells the story of a young novice hunter who must journey to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack. Once there she meets a girl who is close with the wolves and whose tribe is rumored to turn into wolves at night.
