Apple TV+ has ordered a new “Eva the Owlet” kids and family animated series based on the bestselling children’s book series by Rebecca Elliott called the “Owl Diaries”. The new series is part of the Apple TV+ kids’ changemakers initiative launched in March this year.
Under the initiative, the stream partnered with world-renowned education leaders and creative storytellers to produce inspiring and enriching original content for kids that will stimulate imagination, self-confidence, and critical thinking in young minds.

Produced by Scholastic Entertainment, the new “Eva the Owlet” series is animated by Brown Bag Films and written by Annabeth Bondor-Stone and Connor White. It is executive produced by Scholastic Entertainment’s Daytime Emmy Award-nominated team including Iole Lucchese, Caitlin Friedman, Jef Kaminsky, and others.
The new series will feature original songs by renowned musician Fitz of Fitz and singer/songwriter Tantrums to tell the fun and educational stories of Eva, the owlet who has an inquisitive and larger-than-life personality and the spirit to explore the world.
“Eva the Owlet” stars Eva, a creative, cheeky owlet who lives next door to her best friend Lucy in the woodland world of Treetopington. With big ideas and an even bigger personality, Eva goes on high-flying adventures, expressing herself in her journal along the way!
Apple TV+ partnered with John F. Evans and James Pennebaker changemakers who are experts in creating content for young minds which is infused with lessons, values, and healthy habits.
John F. Evans, MAT, MA, Ed.D., a writing clinician, National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach at Duke Integrative Medicine, and the founder and executive director of Wellness & Writing Connections, LLC.
With James Pennebaker, Evans co-authored “Expressive Writing: Words that Heal,” which has been published in six languages. He works with individuals and groups to teach them how to use writing for better physical, emotional and mental health, and collaborated with executive producers and Scholastic Entertainment to help develop the series and infuse lessons around the value of using writing as a tool for healthy self-expression.
