Apple TV+ captures its first-ever Oscar nominations for ‘Greyhound’ and ‘Wolfwalkers’
At 93rd Academy Awards, Wolfwalkers is nominated for Best Animated Feature among the nine categories. The other nominations for the same category are Onward (Pixar), A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (Netflix), Soul (Pixar), and Over the Moon (Netflix).
Apple TV+ movie Greyhound, written by and starring Tom Hanks, is nominated for Best Sound. It is a thrilling WWII story inspired by true events. Captain Ernest Krause (Tom Hanks) leads an international convoy of 37 ships on a treacherous mission across the Atlantic to deliver thousands of soldiers and much-need supplies to Allied Forces. The movie is competing against News of the World (also starring Tom Hanks), Soul, Sound of Metal, and Mank. The Cupertino tech giant also hoped to receive an Oscar nomination for Sofia Coppola’s ‘On the Rocks’, sadly it did not make the cut.
The 93rd Academy Awards will be hosted on April 25, Sunday, at the Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center. The event will be broadcasted live on ABC.
