Apple TV+ has added another feather to its cap of honors, the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) TV Honors has recognized two Apple TV+ original drama series “Pachinko” and “Swagger” for their content, performances, and representation of people from different walks of life.
AAFCA TV Honors recognize “outstanding” work in the television industry to award exceptional content and performances which deliver a lasting impact and refreshing representation of the world. For 2022, Apple TV+ dramas have bagged two awards.
Apple TV+ bags two AAFCA TV Honors awards for cast in “Swagger” and production in “Pachinko”
The 4th annual AAFCA TV Honors will be held on August 20, 2022 at the luncheon in Los Angeles to celebrate the winners. And Apple TV+ will be receiving two awards for the following:
- Best Ensemble Award – “Swagger”
- Best International Production Award – “Pachinko”
“Swagger” is a sports drama series inspired by the life and career of young NBA star Kevin Durrant.
An adaption of the New York Times best-selling acclaimed novel by the same name, “Pachinko” is an emotional love story of a young girl Sunja who journey from her homeland korea, to Japan and ends up in America.
Pachinko has also been nominated for 2022 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Main Title Design.
These awards mark the second and third AAFCA TV Honors wins for Apple TV+, following recognition for “Central Park” in the Best Animated category in 2020, and follow a string of accolades for Apple Original films, documentaries and series earning 248 wins and 1,115 award nominations and counting, including this year’s Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA,” in just under three years since its global launch. – Apple TV+
