Apple TV+ today announced its latest psychological thriller series Surface from Veronica West. The series will premiere globally on July 29 with its first three episodes. The rest will be released on a weekly basis after that.
Apple TV+ adds new psychological thriller to its roster, ‘Surface’
Set in high-end San Francisco, the new series stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw from The Morning Show. Surface follows Sophie, a woman who suffers from memory loss resulting from a traumatic head injury from a possible suicide attempt.
Sophie then sets out on a journey to put the pieces of her life back together with the help of the people in her life including her husband and her friends. As is the case with most psychological thrillers, she soon begins to question if “the truth she is told is in fact the truth she has lived.” From Apple’s press release:
Through twists and turns and an unexpected love triangle, this sexy, elevated thriller asks: What if you woke up one day and didn’t know your own secrets? “Surface” is a story of self- discovery which contemplates if we are pre-programmed to become who we are, or if we choose our own identity.
The stellar cast features Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Stephan James, Ari Graynor, Academy Award nominee Marianne Jean-Baptiste, François Arnaud, and Millie Brady.
With show creator Veronic West serving as executive producer alongside Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter, Surface is being produced for the streaming service by Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine.
For $4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial, Apple’s streaming service is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV via the Apple TV app.
