One of the most popular comedy series of Apple TV+ “Ted Lasso” has been honored with four awards at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards, along with an award for Apple TV+ original movie “CODA”.
Following last year’s sweep, the second season of global cultural phenomenon “Ted Lasso” triumphed at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards; this marks the first Critics Choice Award for Goldstein, and the second consecutive Critics Choice Award wins for Sudeikis and Waddingham.
At the 2022 Critics Choice Awards, Apple TV+ “Ted Lasso” and “CODA” collectively bagged five awards
For the first time, “CODA” star ‘Troy Kotsur’ has become the first deaf actor to be recognized for his work by Critics Choice Awards jury. Earlier this month, Kotsur also won the Best Supporting Male award at the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards, the first deaf actor to win a Spirit Award.
After award-winning Season 1, “Ted Lasso” season 2 also continues to impress the audience with its message of kindness, unity, and love for biscuits. Director and starring as the lead in the comedy series, Jason Sudeikis has once again won an award for his remarkable show and acting skills. In total, Apple TV+ bagged five awards at this years’ Critics Choice Awards.
As per the announcement, the 2022 Critics Choice Awards recognized Apple TV+’s original comedy series and drama movie in the following categories:
- Best Comedy Series – “Ted Lasso”
- Best Actor in a Comedy Series – Jason Sudeikis, “Ted Lasso”
- Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series – Brett Goldstein, “Ted Lasso”
- Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series – Hannah Waddingham, “Ted Lasso”
- Best Supporting Actor – Troy Kotsur, “CODA”
With the inclusion of the new awards, Apple TV+ has earned 224 wins and 950 nominations in just two years since its launch in November 2019 from Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards, SAG Awards, WGA Awards, DGA Awards, PGA Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Critics Choice Documentary Awards, Daytime, and Primetime Emmy Awards, and others.
