Apple TV+’s hit comedy series ‘Ted Lasso’ has added more awards to the streaming service’s collection. On Sunday, the series picked up three Critics Choice Awards for Best Comedy category, Best Actor in a Comedy Series, and Best supporting actress in a comedy series.
The show has been a massive hit for Apple’s streaming service and has received tons of positive reviews from viewers and critics. Jason Sudeikis previously Golden Globe Award for his lead role in the series. Ted Lasso follows the coaching experience of a mediocre college football coach from Kansas who moves to England to coach a professional soccer team.
‘Ted Lasso’ wins three Critics Choice Awards for every category it was nominated it
The three wins saw Ted Lasso pick up Best Comedy Series, with it beating out “Better Things,” “The Flight Attendant,” “Mom,” “Pen15,” “Ramy,” “Schitt’s Creek,” and “What We Do in the Shadows” for the “Best Comedy Series award.
Jason Sudeikis, who played the titular character and executive produced the show, won for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Hannah Waddingham picked up Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
During his acceptance speech, Sudeikis thanked his ex Olivia Wilde, “who had the initial idea to do this as a TV show,” the actor also thanked his kids: Daisy and Otis. Sudeikis’ Critics Choice Award follows a week after winning an award for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series” in the “Musical or Comedy” category for his role in Ted Lasso.
Season 2 of Ted Lasso is currently in the works and is expected to air on Apple TV+ in the summer. Apple has also ordered a third season of the series to be made available in the future.
