Apple TV+ bags “The Gorge” from Skydance starring Miles Teller

Apple TV+ has acquired a new movie from Skydance “The Gorge”. Calling it “one of the more hotter projects in town”, Deadline reports that the upcoming movie will be a genre-bending love story featuring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Given Apple and Skydance’s first-look partnership, the studio looked to be in pole position to land the film and once Taylor-Joy signed on, Apple was quick to make it official.

Apple TV+ acquires a genre-bending love story written by Zach Dean

Zach Dean has written the script of “The Gorge” and Scott Derrickson will direct it. Teller will be the film’s executive producer. SkyDance acquired the script from Dean last year and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger are producers of the movie, along with C. Robert Cargill, Sherryl Clark, Crooked Highway’s Scott Derrickson, Zach Dean, Adam Kolbrenner, and Greg Goodman.

Although the plot of the movie is being kept under wraps, the movie’s lead Teller has created great hype for it which convinced Scott Derrickson to join the team as director. The report states:

The project gained some serious momentum this summer when Teller began eyeing it as his next film following the global success of his summer tentpole Top Gun: Maverick. Derrickson had been previously attached but was also weighing other projects following the success of one of the years biggest horror films The Black Phone but once Teller committed to the film, Derrickson was quick to name it his next directing job and the project was fast-tracked by Skydance.

“The Gorge” will be the latest collaboration between SkyDance and Teller after his lead role in the successful movie “Top Gun: Maverick” with superstar Tom Cruise. Amsterdam with David O. Russell was Taylor-Joy’s most recent project.
