Apple TV+ released a teaser for the upcoming “The Essex Serpent”, a mystery drama limited series starring Emmy and SAG Award winner Claire Danes and Emmy Award nominee Tom Hiddleston. Based on Sarah Perry’s bestselling novel of the same name, “The Essex Serpent” will premiere on Friday, May 13, 2022, with the first two episodes, worldwide and one new episode weekly through June 10.
The new series is written by BAFTA Award nominee Anna Symon and directed by BAFTA Award nominee Clio Barnard. It is produced by See-Saw Films for Apple TV+ and executive produced by Jamie Laurenson, Iain Canning, Hakan Kousetta, Patrick Walters, and Emile Sherman, along with Barnard and Symon.

The official trailer for the new series, uploaded on the Apple TV+ YouTube channel, gives a first look at the thrilling story of “The Essex Serpent” surrounding the life of a widow Cora Seaborne (played by Claire Danes) who is intrigued by the stories of a mythical creature called the Essex Serpent in Aldwinter in Essex moves to that small village from Victorian London.
There she meets the local vicar (played by Tom Hiddleston) but her stay in the village takes an unfortunate turn when unexpected incidents start to manifest and she is accused of bringing a bad omen to the place.
Set in Victorian England featuring a star studded cast led by Claire Danes, Tom Hiddleston, Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy and Hayley Squires, The Essex Serpent follows London widow Cora Seaborne (Danes) who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar (Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature.
