Starring Zac Efron as Chickie Donohue and Russell Crowe as Coates is literally the true story of a friend delivering beer to another friend deployed in Vietnam during the war. Donohue’s journey across the world, away from the security and safety at home, gives him the opportunity to experience a completely different world surrounded by destruction, and uncertainty but also hope, love and friendship.
To show support for his neighborhood friends serving in Vietnam, Chickie Donohue (Zac Efron) decides to do something totally outrageous: travel to the frontline by himself to bring the soldiers a little piece of home — their favorite can of American beer.
However, what started as a well-meaning journey quickly turns into the adventure of a lifetime as Chickie confronts the reality of this controversial war and his reunions with his childhood buddies thrust him into the complexities and responsibilities of adulthood. Based on an incredible true story, “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” is a heartfelt coming-of-age tale about friendship, loyalty and sacrifice.
The film’s cast ensemble also includes Bill Murray as Colonel, Viggo Mortensen, Jake Picking, Will Ropp, and others. In addition to “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”, Apple and Skydance are also producing a new original action-comedy movie “The Family Plan” starring Mark Wahlberg.
