Apple reportedly set to launch new USB-C EarPods ahead of iPhone 15 release

With the much-anticipated release of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro on the horizon, Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch a new version of its popular wired EarPods, featuring the versatile USB-C port. This move comes in response to the European Union’s recent mandate for a universal charging standard, further solidifying Apple’s commitment to comply with regulations while delivering seamless user experiences.

EarPods and AirPods with USB-C connectivity in the works

According to the reputable leaker, ShrimpApplePro, the USB-C EarPods are already in mass production. This new iteration of EarPods is set to directly connect to the iPhone 15 via its USB-C port, eliminating the need for an adapter. With the European Union’s push for a universal charging standard, Apple’s decision to adopt the USB-C port makes perfect sense, ensuring enhanced compatibility with its devices.

Despite the massive success of the AirPods, Apple recognizes that many users still prefer the simplicity of a wired listening experience. For those who prioritize plug-and-play convenience and value over constant charging and pairing, the wired EarPods are the ideal choice. The USB-C EarPods promise to provide a seamless audio experience without the hassle of wires tangling or battery life concerns.

Apple has been proactive in ensuring compliance with the European Union’s regulations. Similar to its existing “Made for iPhone” (MFi) program with Lightning connectors, Apple is reportedly working on USB-C accessories as part of the MFi program. This means that third-party manufacturers will also have the opportunity to create USB-C accessories for Apple devices, expanding the ecosystem further.

As per the leaker’s information, the USB-C port may not be limited to just the EarPods; Apple is also said to be working on a USB-C version of the AirPods. This development suggests a shift towards a more consistent charging approach across Apple’s audio product range.
