Apple today announced Immersive Video for the Vision Pro headset. The new format offers stunning 3D 8K video with a 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio for unparalleled realism.
The first offering, “Boundless,” premieres tonight at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, featuring a hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia, Türkiye. A second episode, “Arctic Surfing,” will be released this fall. In August, Vision Pro users will receive a new “Wild Life” episode focusing on Kenya’s Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and orphaned elephants. Later in the year, another episode will explore marine life in the Bahamas.
September will bring “Elevated,” an aerial travel series showcasing iconic vistas from volcanoes and waterfalls in Hawaii to autumn landscapes in New England. Later in 2024, Apple will introduce an immersive performance by The Weeknd, a scripted short film titled “Submerged,” set during World War II, and a behind-the-scenes look at the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. Additionally, a new sports series, “Big-Wave Surfing,” will debut, featuring elite surfers tackling waves off the coast of Teahupo’o, Tahiti.

This innovative format utilizes 3D video recorded in 8K with a 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio, creating an unmatched sense of realism. The immersive content will be available through the Apple TV app in several countries, including Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the U.K., and the U.S., while users in China can access it via the Migu Video and Tencent Video apps.
