Apple this week released two new Pride Edition Apple Watch bands in celebration of Pride month 2022. The “Threads of pride” Sport Loop bands can now be purchased from select Apple retail stores.

Customers should call ahead to confirm availability as some locations will start offering pickup from June 1 while the bands are available for pickup today at others. Available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, both bands are compatible with any Apple Watch and retail for $49.
This year’s Pride Edition Sport Loop is a white nylon band with a color gradient featuring the word “pride” woven directly into the band. The word “pride” is written in the same cursive style as the first “hello” greeting displayed on the first Macintosh in 1984.
The Nike Sport Loop is a dark band with colorful strips that “celebrates the full spectrum of the rainbow”. The Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop does not feature any writing.
Along with Nike’s Be True collection, the Sport Loop honors individuals who are expanding sport for future generations and inspiring others to feel the joy of being authentically themselves. Be True is part of Nike’s broader commitment to the LGBTQ+ community, which focuses on recognition, advocacy, inspiration, and education.
Apple says its team designed a color gradient that incorporates the “original rainbow colors with those drawn from various pride flags” including ” light blue, pink, and white, representing transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals, and black and brown, symbolizing Black and Latinx communities.” In addition, “The colors also represent those who are living with or have passed away from HIV/AIDS.”
The tech giant also released a new watch face in celebration of Pride month which is available for Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 8.6, and iPhone 6s or later running iOS 15.5. Furthermore, a new “Shot on iPhone Pride Campaign” is coming in June.
Apple’s 2021 Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop which features original rainbow colors woven together is still available for $99. It is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes.
