Gurman reiterates Apple Watch Pro will be expensive

Apple’s special fall 2022 event “Far Out,” is slated to take place in a few days on September 7. The tech giant is set to announce the Apple Watch Series 8 alongside the iPhone 14 lineup. The Apple Watch Series 8 lineup will be comprised of three models: the standard Watch, the second-generation Apple Watch SE, and a new Pro model.

In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman revealed his prediction that the upcoming Apple Watch Pro could ” come in at least $900 to $1,000, topping the current Apple Watch Edition.”

Gurman has previously revealed quite a few details about the upcoming Apple Watch Pro. The new Apple Watch will feature a larger, more shatter-resistant display and It will also offer enhanced hiking and swim tracking along with longer battery life.

The journalist has also confirmed that the Pro model will feature a titanium casing saying, “In terms of materials, the watch will have a more durable formulation of titanium to make it extra rugged.”

We know that the standard Apple Watch Series 8 model as well as the Apple Watch Pro will come equipped with a new body temperature sensor. Reportedly, the feature will be able to give users a general reading rather than an exact temperature. For example, the sensor will be able to alert users if they have a fever.

In addition to this, Gurman recently confirmed that older watch bands will still work with the device but “they won’t fit as well or look as seamless given the size of the new watch.” He also said in July that the device would cost $900-$999 so today’s report is not entirely shocking – barring the heavy price tag of course.

Lastly, we know that all models in the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 lineup will feature the S8 processor. Last year’s Apple Watch models come equipped with the S7 chip, but the processor features the same specifications as the S6 chip, making the chip two years old.

In addition to this, Gurman also revealed some tidbits about the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup’s battery and eSIM functionality, next-generation AirPods Pro, and Apple’s plans for its long-rumored AR/VR headsets in his newsletter.
