CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, Ross Young has hinted at a possible addition of the third size in the new Apple Watch Series 8 launching in 2022. Since its launch in 2015, Apple has always released each series in two sizes: 38mm and 40mm sizes which were later upgraded to 42mm, and 44mm sizes. If Apple releases a third size with the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8, that will be the first time.
In Apple Watch Series 7, Apple has redesigned the smartwatch’s lineup with 41mm and 45mm larger display sizes. Both screen sizes are already larger enough, but according to the display analyst, the alleged third variant might have an even larger display.
Apple might introduce a third larger variant in the Apple Watch Series 8
@Young tweeted a question if consumers would like a larger display on the next-generation Apple Watch Series and followed that tweet with a statement that users should not be surprised to see three sizes in the new smartwatch lineup in 2022.
Don't be surprised if there are 3 sizes next year…

Although the 2021 Apple Watch Series 7 does not offer any new health sensors, reports claim that the 2022 Apple Watch Series 8 will feature a range of health sensors to measure blood pressure, blood glucose, and alcohol levels. Apple’s partner Rockley Photonics has announced a new “clinic-on-the-wrist” digital health sensor system for wearable devices which will enable monitoring various health conditions via non-invasive means blood pressure, alcohol, glucose levels, body temperature, lactate, body hydration, and more. Therefore, a larger variant to house the sensor(s) makes sense.
Industry sources corroborate claims of new health sensors coming new Apple Watch Series 8. Renowned tech analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is exploring new health features to introduce in the new Apple Watch series and AirPods as well. DigiTimes said that Apple will use ambient light sensors to measure blood oxygen levels and heart rate from the ear.
