At Apple’s much-anticipated “It’s Glowtime,” event on September 9th, the tech giant introduced an exciting update to its flagship smartwatch lineup: the Apple Watch Ultra 2 now comes in a striking Satin Black finish. This new color option is further accompanied by improved health features and new Watch bands.
“Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the ultimate sports watch, with features that support athletes at every level of their training and performance — and throughout their day and night,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “The breakthrough insights in watchOS 11 make Apple Watch Ultra 2 even more powerful, and it’s now available in a stunning satin-black titanium finish users will love for its striking look and durability.”
Apple Watch Ultra 2 in Satin Black
The Apple Watch Ultra 2, already known for its rugged build and advanced capabilities, now boasts a refined Satin Black titanium finish. This new iteration uses a specialized blasting process and a diamond-like carbon coating to enhance durability and scratch resistance. The watch retains its core design with a 49mm case crafted from 95% recycled grade-5 titanium, but the dark zirconia back crystal adds to the sleek, modern aesthetic.
Titanium Milanese Loop and updated bands
Accompanying the new color, Apple has unveiled several new accessories. The Titanium Milanese Loop, available in both Satin Black and Natural finishes, is a notable addition. This band, designed for both style and functionality, is lightweight and corrosion-resistant, perfect for water activities and everyday wear.
Apple has also refreshed the Alpine, Marine, and Ocean bands, which are designed specifically for the Ultra 2 but can also be used with other Apple Watch models in larger case sizes.
Apple Watch Hermès Ultra 2
Apple has also extended its collaboration with Hermès, introducing the Apple Watch Hermès Ultra 2. This edition features a new En Mer band made from high-density knit material and a titanium buckle, coupled with a maritime-inspired Hermès watch face.
watchOS 11
The Satin Black Apple Watch Ultra 2 will benefit from the latest advancements in watchOS 11. This update introduces several key features:
- Sleep Apnea detection: Utilizing the watch’s accelerometer, this feature monitors breathing disturbances during sleep, providing notifications if signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea are detected.
- Music playback: The Ultra 2 now supports audio playback directly from the watch’s speakers, eliminating the need for connected headphones.
- Customizable Action Button: The Action Button now offers expanded customization options, allowing users to quickly access functions such as Voice Memos, Shazam, and Stopwatch.
Pricing and availability
The Satin Black Apple Watch Ultra 2 will be available for pre-order starting today, with a launch date set for September 20th. The price remains consistent with its predecessor at $799. The Apple Watch Hermès Ultra 2 will be priced at $1,399.
