The new Apple Watch Ultra was recently announced as the perfect companion for divers, hikers, and explorers. Media personnel that attended Apple’s “Far out” event have just shared the first real-world look at the rugged 49mm watch.
Check out the first real-world look at Apple Watch Ultra
Apple’s new rugged smartwatch comes in a bold design and features a 49mm titanium case and flat sapphire front crystal that reveals the brightest Apple Watch display yet. The display is protected by the new casing which protrudes around the display to protect it from getting damaged.
The watch also offers a wide range of features built for endurance, exploration, and adventure. In addition, it also features a new Action button that can be customized to launch a certain app or function and its Digital Crown is also bigger.
Given the 49mm size of the new watch and the materials it is made with, it seems like it would be heavy. However, consumers do not have to worry about it feeling chunky on their wrists. Twitter use @mikahsargent revealed that the watch is “ridiculously lightweight.” Furthermore, the new Trail Loop band is also “super lightweight and soft.”
Although it’s HUGE, it’s ridiculously lightweight. I thought I was holding a dummy model for a second.

User @neilcybart revealed that the new Ocean band did feel big on the wrist. But the other two – the Alpine and Trail Loop – did not. The feel of the watch band is something important to consider if you are thinking about purchasing the Apple Watch Ultra.
Getting a lot of questions on Ultra size and fit. Here’s a different angle. The Ocean band felt big on wrist. The other two bands didn’t. pic.twitter.com/pjlQhnboat

An up-close video was also shared of the Apple Watch Ultra in action. The 49mm screen size looks equally as stunning as the brighter display itself.

The images and videos shared by the media personnel can help give consumers an idea of what the new watch might look like on them. Luckily, the bigger screen and chunkier casing do not take away from the distinct sleekness of an Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch Ultra costs $799. Pre-orders for the watch are now open on apple.com and it will become start shipping on September 23. Consumers will also receive 3 months of Apple Fitness+ for free with the purchase of a new Apple Watch.
