Apple has updated its terms for AppleCare+ plans for Mac and now allows customers to indefinitely extend coverage beyond the previous 3 years limit. Customers in Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States can take advantage of this plan extension, and continue using it as long as they pay on a monthly or annual basis. For the first time ever, Apple has also introduced AppleCare+ for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models.
AppleCare+ for Mac now be extended beyond 3 years
Customers in Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States can extend their AppleCare+ plan indefinitely with monthly or annual payments. As long as they continue paying, they will get coverage for their Mac which includes 24/7 priority access to Apple experts via chat or phone, two incidents of accidental coverage every year ($99 for screen and external enclosure damage, $299 for other damage).
If you already have an AppleCare+ plan for your Mac and wish to continue it beyond three years, you don’t need to take any action to renew the plan. You can continue paying to have your Mac covered as long as you continue paying.
If you have just bought a new Mac, you can purchase coverage during check out at Apple Store, or within 30 days of purchase by going to mysupport.apple.com. For expensive Macs which usually last longer than 3 years, this is a helpful purchase and gives peace of mind that issues like accidental damage and battery replacement are covered throughout.
AppleCare+ for Apple TV
AppleCare+ for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD costs $29 or $4.83 for 6 months and can be activated within 60 days of purchase. Customers will receive three years of extended coverage with two incidents of accidental damage every 12 months for $15. Service will cover the main Apple TV unit, Siri Remote, and power cord. 24/7 priority access to Apple experts via chat or phone will also be included throughout the coverage.
