Apple has just sent out invitations for its annual fall event, “Far Out.” The event is slated to take place on Wednesday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. Unlike previous events held during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Apple has invited members of the media to the Steve Jobs Theater this time around.
iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8 to be announced during Apple’s upcoming “Far Out” event
Now, let’s talk about the expected announcements for Far Out. Apple’s flagship iPhone lineup is customarily announced at its fall event every this. This year’s iPhone 14 lineup will be comprised of four models: the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.7-inch iPhone Max, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
This year’s standard models, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are not going to feature significant upgrades. It has been reported multiple times that they will feature the same design and A15 chip as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to be announced chock-full of updates.
The Pro models are set to feature the updated A16 Bionic chip, a new pill + hole punch cutout for the display. a 48MP rear-end camera that will enable 8K video recording and an upgraded front camera with auto-focus.
All models are expected to feature 6GB of RAM.and support 30W charging. As for the internal storage of the device, there are some conflicting reports about whether it will start from 128GB or 256GB, given a rumored price hike.
The new Apple Watch Series 8 lineup is also expected to be announced at the Far Out event. It will feature three models: the standard Apple Watch Series 8, a second-generation Apple Watch SE, and a new “Pro” model.
The Series 8 models will feature the same design as Series 7 and the same processor. all models in Apple Watch Series 8 lineup will feature the S8 processer. Last year’s Apple Watch models come equipped with the S7 chip but the processor features the same specifications as the S6 chip. With that being said, the processor will likely offer gains in efficiency.
The standard Series 8 will be available in aluminum and stainless steel finishes. As for the colors, Midnight, Starlight, Product(RED), and Silver will be available in the aluminum finish. The stainless steel models will be available in Graphite and Silver.
The new models are also expected to feature a new body temperature sensor as well as a low-power mode and car crash detection. The Pro model is set to get a bigger display, larger battery, and a higher price tag, it could start from $900 or $999.
As for new iPads and Macs, they will not be announced at Far Out. Instead, they are expected to be unveiled at an event in October since the release of iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura has been pushed back. iOS 16 and watchOS 9 will be released as scheduled, likely after the Far Out event concludes.
