Apple launches redesigned online store with dedicated ‘Store’ tab

Apple’s online store recently went down for an hour without any known reason. Following the downtime, the tech giant updated its Apple.com website with a redesigned online store and a dedicated ‘Store’ tab on the top menu of the website. The redesign makes the online store look more like the iOS Apple Store app.

Apple debuts redesigned online store with new ‘Store’ tab

There is a new “Store” tab in the top navigation bar of Apple.com, which takes customers to a dedicated online store portal where they can browse available products including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirTag, AirPods, and more.

The top of the store features links that can connect users with an Apple Store specialist or can help locate the nearest physical Apple Store to them. Underneath that, the website features a product carousel that includes Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and more. If a user clicks the product categories, they will be shown additional information about that product and new sections like ‘Ways to Save,’ ‘Shopping Guides,’ ‘The Apple Difference,’ and more.

Beneath the product carousel, the front page of the store features a section for the promotions and products the company is pushing right now. For example, ‘The Latest’  section shows off new products the company has released like MagSafe case accessories, iPhone 12, and a promotion for its back-to-college campaign.

Underneath that, there is a section that highlights Apple Support and how users can learn more about their device. Other sections include ‘The Apple Difference,’ which lists all the reasons there are to shop with the tech giant including trading in your current device, paying in installments, and a range of customization options. There is also a section for extracurricular accessories like AirPods Pro, HomePod mini, Apple Pencil, and more. AirTag and Apple services have their own respective sections in the online store.

The rest of the website remains unchanged. It has been a long time since the Cupertino tech giant launched a major redesign for its online store so the change is welcome. In addition to this, the simplified sections of the redesigned online store offer digestible pieces of information to users. This, in turn, helps consumers make informed decisions about their purchases.
