A senior reporter at Protocol, Janko Roettgers discovered a new Belkin adaptor in FCC filings that would support AirPlay 2 feature. Called “Belkin Soundform Connect” adapter, the new adaptor will allow users to add AirPlay 2 capabilities when connected to standard speakers.
Apple’s AirPlay allows wireless streaming between various devices: iPhone, Mac, Apple TV, and others to play or share media data like photos, videos, and others. It is also compatible with smart home accessories like cameras, security cameras, locks, and more. In iOS 11, the company introduced its update, AirPlay 2 which offers multi-room playback, enhanced buffering, and multi-device control.

New Belkin Soundform Connect AirPlay 2 adaptor would retail for €100
As per the discovered filing, the new Soundform Connect AirPlay 2 adaptor will have a 3.5mm mini-jack port for audio output, Optical Digital Audio, and will be powered by a USB-C cable.
Power output listed is conducted. The antenna(s) used for this transmitter must be used to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from all persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. End-users must be provided with antenna installation instructions and transmitter operating conditions for satisfying RF exposure compliance.

The new adaptor will also offer HomeKit and Siri voice command support. Roettgers also found that the new adaptor will have a high price tag, €100.
Currently, AirPlay 2 is compatible with HomePod, iPhone 5s or newer, the iPad Mini 2 or newer, Apple TV (4th gen and 4K), and any MacBook models released in the last seven years.
