Apple unveiled the M2 Pro chip in the 2023 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini in January. The M2 Pro is built on a second-generation 5-nanometer process and consists of 40 billion transistors which are nearly 20% more transistors than the M1 Pro chip, and 2x the number of transistors in the M2 chip.
The M2 Pro has an up to 12-core CPU, up to 16-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. The CPU is up to 20% faster than the M1 Pro, and the GPU is up to 30% faster. The Neural Engine is 40% faster which can speed up machine learning tasks like video analysis and image processing.
The M2 Pro also has 200GB/s of unified memory bandwidth which is double the amount in the M2 chip. This allows the M2 Pro to handle larger and more complex workloads.
When it comes to gaming, the M2 Pro chip can handle some modern games at a decent framerate at lower settings and resolutions. Here are the best 5 games to play on M2 Pro MacBook Pro.
